Zapp hunts for central London dark store sites
Rapid grocery delivery app Zapp is seeking to expand its portfolio of dark stores in central London in an “urgent” requirement.
The operator has instructed retained adviser Koopmans to find sites at market rent in prime locations including Mayfair, Marylebone, The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Knightsbridge, Soho and Clerkenwell.
With its expansion, Zapp aims to tap a target market of individuals requiring “spontaneity and urgency” within the capital, according to marketing materials seen by EG.

The criteria for store size ranges between 2,500 sq ft and 6,000 sq ft. Ground floor properties with a form of loading access are sought.
Sites with class B light industrial and storage use are preferred, according to the document, but formats with class E will also be considered.
The on-demand convenience app, which guarantees 24/7 delivery within minutes, operates nine existing dark stores in London supported by a large central distribution centre. It stocks more than 3,500 brands, including premium groceries and drinks.
Both Zapp and Koopmans declined to comment.
