Wynn Resorts walks away from £5.5bn bid for Crown Resorts

James Packer, one of Australia’s richest men, appears to have been denied a £400m jackpot after a Las Vegas casino walked away from a A$10bn (£5.5bn) approach for gambling giant Crown Resorts.

Wynn Resorts cancelled a potential takeover of Australia’s largest casino operator after news of the discussions was leaked.

Mr Packer, son of Kerry, the late billionaire mogul who started one day cricket, owns almost half of Crown Resorts though his privately held Consolidated Press Holdings Group.
