A woman was in a critical condition in hospital last night after being hit by bricks that appeared to have fallen from a crane on a building site.
The incident happened at about 9.30am near the Bow Corner residential development in east London. Footage taken on a mobile phone showed her surrounded by bricks and other debris and members of the public trying to help her.
Police said that the incident occurred as the woman was walking on the pavement next to Bow Corner, a low-rise development by Higgins Homes that consists of flats valued between £435,000 and £650,000.
