William Hill to shut 119 betting shops

William Hill has said it will not re-open 119 betting shops following early lease breaks. The gambling chain, which already closed 713 shops last year, outlined expectations that longer term retail footfall “will not return to pre-Covid levels”. The majority of staff within affected stores will be redeployed within the estate. William Hill began the year with 1,533 locations. The company’s adjusted profit before interest and tax fell 85% to £11.8m during H1, while net revenue plunged by 32% to £554.4m on the previous year.
