Westminster approves next phase of £350m Ebury Bridge scheme

Westminster City Council’s planning committee has approved reserved matters plans for 334 homes at Ebury Bridge Estate. The scheme forms the second phase of the wider regeneration masterplan in the borough, comprising 800 homes, which has a gross development value of £350m. It is being led by Westminster City Council as developer, with a design team including Astudio architects, Arup Associates, Levitt Bernstein and Gardiner & Theobald. The first phase featured 200 multi-tenure homes, 50% of which were affordable. Across the second phase, 75% of homes will be classified as affordable. The latest proposals also feature new public realm, which incorporates play space, landscaped open space and community space. The council has set aside £136.6m from the Housing Revenue Account to be dedicated to the project over five years, with this figure rising to £186.7m over the longer term. Kirsty Turner, senior planner at Savills who led the project, said: “The permission now means Westminster City Council can press on with delivering homes in the borough. “The new development will set a standard for Westminster’s vision for the new Ebury Bridge Estate, delivering exceptional design quality.” Planning in Westminster >> Image © Haze
