Vita Group plans 250-bed Newcastle PBSA scheme

Vita Group plans to provide a 250-bed purpose-built student accommodation scheme on the former Barker & Stonehouse furniture store at Strawberry Buildings and neighbouring Strawberry House on Leazes Park Road in Newcastle. The proposed development includes the demolition of the Barker & Stonehouse building, while Strawberry House will be retained. Vita’s proposed scheme will be created using modern methods of construction, and will include social and study space, as well as a gym. Max Bielby, chief operating officer at Vita Group, said: “Newcastle has a fantastic reputation as a great place to study, and this reputation continues to draw more students year-on-year, creating greater demand on the city’s infrastructure.
