Virgin Cinema is using a doubling of its profits to £34.5m to increase its screen presence. The company confirmed 20 new multiplexes before 2000.
Deals for 10 new multiplexes have already been signed, including a 20-screen multiplex in Leeds, West Yorkshire, which is estimated to be the biggest cinema in the UK.
A further three deals are in negotiation. Later this year, new multiplexes will open in Aberdeen, Newport and Tyne & Wear.
