The joint venture is developing a 6,200-home neighbourhood set in 1,200 acres to the east of Rugby in the West Midlands.
The energy efficient homes will be manufactured at TopHat’s factory in Derby, before being transported to Houtlon in January, and assembled in days.
Urban&Civic chief executive Nigel Hugill mooted plans to expand to modular housing last summer, as part of a BTR push. He said the rental homes tenure would be supported by the speedy construction timelines of modular.
Mike van den Berg, senior development manager at Urban&Civic, said: “Through our role as master developer at Houlton, we are dedicated to bringing a range of different housebuilders onto our site, to provide people with high-quality homes in a variety of tenures and styles.
“The addition of Civic Living to our already impressive portfolio of housebuilders will further diversify the choices at Houlton – especially to those looking for contemporary, low-carbon homes.”
