Tim O’Toole, the US lawyer chosen by the mayor for London to run the Tube, yesterday revealed that he had spent up to 10 hours every day for a week on its trains to get to know the system.
O’Toole, who will earn £250,000 a year plus bonuses, was chief executive at passenger transit system Conrail in Philadelphia for three years.
