Tritax gets go-ahead for £185m Biggleswade logistics expansion

Central Bedfordshire Council has given the nod to Tritax Symmetry for the third phase of Symmetry Park in Biggleswade, taking the total scheme to 2.2m sq ft.

Once fully developed, the gross development value of the park will be close to £185m, according to market sources.

Designed by AJA Architects, the latest proposals are for three logistics buildings of 384,325 sq ft, 287,200 sq ft and 255,700 sq ft. All three facilities will be net zero carbon in construction and will target a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Symmetry Park, located off the A1 and 29 miles north of J23 of the M25, covers a total of 150 acres.

The first two phases, offering 1.24m sq ft, are fully occupied. Phase one is a 661,000 sq ft facility which is solely occupied by Co-operative Group as its regional distribution centre. Phase two comprises four logistics facilities occupied by Bidfood (160,000 sq ft), Bowman Ingredients (75,000 sq ft), Noatum Logistics (230,000 sq ft) and Bond International (112,000 sq ft).

Woods Harwick is advising Tritax on planning. Colliers and Bidwells are joint letting agents at Symmetry Park.
