Trafford Council and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority have chosen FEC as a development partner for the regeneration of a former police station site in Stretford.
The site was previously used by Greater Manchester Police as its headquarters until 2012 when it relocated to a purpose-built facility in Central Park, Newton Heath.
Plans for the scheme include the delivery of over 700 homes on the nine-acre site.
The project aims to provide 25% affordable housing as well as to meet the council’s carbon-neutral targets set for 2038.
The partners expect to put forward a planning application for the site in autumn next year.
The scheme forms part of the wider Civic Quarter Area Action Plan. In addition to housing, the development will include a hotel, shops, offices, and community and leisure facilities.
Trafford Council leader Tom Ross said: “There is a shortage of quality and affordable housing in Trafford and we are totally committed to tacking this issue.”
FEC investment director Tom Pool said: “[We’ll] now be delivering more than 15,000 homes within Greater Manchester, and we look forward to working with the local community in Trafford as part of our commitment to long-term, strategic investment.”
