Trafford Council loans £70m to The Hut Group for HQ

Trafford Council has provided £70m in debt facilities to e-tailer The Hut Group, to fund the development of its new head office at Manchester Airport.

The headquarters, which will measure more than 300,000 sq ft, will be developed by Airport City Manchester. It is expected to house more than 10,000 staff when works complete.

Tom Ross, councillor and Trafford Council’s executive member for finance and investment, said: “At a time when local authority budgets remain under pressure, this addition to the council’s investment strategy is very welcome. The council’s investment strategy continues to provide us with revenue which we can then use to support our frontline services.”
