Toys R Us is making a muted return to the UK high street.
The toy chain, which before its collapse in the UK five years ago was synonymous with big-box retail, is reopening branches in nine WHSmith stores over the coming weeks.
Toys R Us shut its UK network of 100 stores in 2018 as it faced resistance from the pensions regulator over a £30m deficit in its pension scheme.

The first new store will open on 10 June 10 at WHSmith’s Monks Cross retail park store in York, and further outlets will follow in Canterbury, Chelmsford, Cheltenham, Cwmbran, Oxford, Poole, Reading and Solihull.
