Tories plan revolt over no-fault eviction ban

Michael Gove’s planned ban on no-fault evictions faces a Conservative revolt.

The policy is contained in the Renters Reform Bill, which is among seven pieces of legislation the government is carrying over into the new parliamentary session after the King’s Speech tomorrow.

The levelling up secretary has said he is determined to implement the ban on no-fault evictions before 2025. But a number of Tory MPs are insisting he holds to promises that the plans would be paused until court reforms had been implemented.
