The Light appoints agent on expansion climb
Cinema and leisure operator The Light is hunting for development opportunities across UK towns and cities, as it opens a 55,000 sq ft venue in Banbury.
The operator has appointed KLM Real Estate on its search for new locations. It aims to take up spaces measuring 35,000 sq ft to 85,000 sq ft.
The Light said it will consider new-build or retrofit options, adding that it is keen to reach out to stakeholders including local authorities and shopping centre owners seeking to revitalise urban centres with a core leisure offering.

The operator’s latest complex, The Light Banbury, anchors the second phase of Cherwell District Council’s Castle Quay Waterfront. The site, which consists of three stories, is the brand’s 12th location.
As well as a seven-screen cinema, the venue offers social activities including 10 bowling lanes, mini golf, a retro arcade, climbing centre, interactive darts and a karaoke room.
The operator is set to open a 40,000 sq ft destination in Redhill in Easter 2023 as part of mixed-use town centre development known as The Rise. It is also planning to incorporate its concept into the leisure expansion of Huddersfield’s Kirkgate Centre.
Keith Pullinger, co-founder of The Light, said: “We’ve always looked to push the boundaries of what cinema and leisure can offer. The Banbury opening marks another milestone for our business and is a sign of our intent to provide a unique mix of uses which resonates with our customers.
“We want to take that concept to as many people as possible and are actively looking for sites across the UK to put The Light at the heart of urban regeneration.”
