Crown Estate to turn ex-Virgin Megastore into food court

The Crown Estate has gained approval to turn the former Virgin Megastore on Regent Street, W1, into a food hall. The property company pointed to “little demand” from retailers “for such large units” and the “challenges” faced by the retail sector. The location, at 55 Regent Street, W1, will be turned into an Asian-themed food hall following unanimous approval from Westminster Council. Maximal Concepts will operate the proposed food court, marking its first outlet in the UK. The concept is called Asia Collective. A “grab and go” concept will be featured at ground floor level, on Piccadilly. The main food court will be located at basement level.
