TfL wins Cockfosters BTR consent
Transport for London and Grainger have secured consent to build 351 build-to-rent flats at Cockfosters Tube station in north London.
The Connected Living London partnership won approval at Enfield Council’s planning committee on 3 February.
The scheme includes 40% affordable housing and 43,000 sq ft of green space, with the flats in towers of up to 14 storeys to replace the car park on the 3.4-acre site.

The scheme includes 40% affordable housing and 43,000 sq ft of green space, with the flats in towers of up to 14 storeys to replace the car park on the 3.4-acre site.
It has been designed by Hawkins\Brown, Mae Architects and JCLA Landscape Architects.
After announcing the scheme in 2019 as one of the first projects in the partnership, CCL lodged the application in June 2021. The scheme is the fourth to be approved for the partnership, after plans in Southall, Nine Elms and north Lambeth.
Ben Tate, head of property development at TfL, said: “This scheme has been designed to provide not only the new and affordable homes that are urgently needed in the borough and across London, but also create new areas of open space and play space that can be enjoyed by the local community and residents alike and re-provide car parking facilities to support the local area.
“It will contribute around £4.5m to help improve local infrastructure and services.”
Adrian Day, on behalf of Better Streets for Enfield, added: “Reducing the amount of space devoted to car parking encourages active travel and use of public transport, which is vital for climate change goals, and building here means less green belt land is needed for housing.”
