Transport for London’s partnership with Grainger has secured consent for 460 new build-to-rent homes in Southall, west London.
The scheme will comprise 40% affordable housing across five buildings. It is the first of four developments proposed by the joint venture, called Connected Living London, that have been submitted for planning.
The 1.16-acre site is located close to Southall station and is currently used for storage and associated Elizabeth Line works.

The homes will be a mix of one, two and three-bedroom properties.
Helen Gordon, chief executive of Grainger, said: “This is an exciting and important milestone for our partnership, which over the coming years is set to make a positive difference for renters and communities across London.”
Ben Tate, head of property development at TfL, added: “We can now start delivering quality rental homes that the capital desperately needs and help improve the area for the local community.”
The partnership was established in July last year with the aim of creating 3,000 rental homes across the city.
The other three locations in planning are at Arnos Grove, Enfield; Montford Place in Kennington, Lambeth; and Nine Elms, Lambeth.
CLL will soon be submitting a planning application for a scheme at Cockfosters. It will also propose around 1,500 homes at Limmo. Other sites are expected to follow.
