Slough set to approve 1,300-home Horlicks Factory plans
Slough Council is recommended to approve Berkeley Homes’ plans for 1,300-homes at the Horlicks Factory.
The council planning committee will debate the plans on 6 November.
Berkeley acquired the site a year ago. At the time the council indicated that the 12.8-acre site could accommodate around 750 homes.

Berkeley acquired the site a year ago. At the time the council indicated that the 12.8-acre site could accommodate around 750 homes.
However, as interest in the commuter town heats up with the anticipated arrival of Crossrail, it was expected to deliver far more.
Berkeley has submitted a hybrid application, seeking outline planning for 746 homes and detailed consent for a further 554 homes.
The scheme includes 25% affordable homes, split equally between Slough Living Rent and shared ownership homes. The private homes in the detailed applicant will be marketed for private sale.
The London developer is also seeking listed building consent for the relocation of the Grade II listed Horlicks War Museum to a proposed new square, called Memorial Square.
The application follows a request for Environmental Impact Assessment submitted in April.
The scheme is Berkeley’s first in Slough. London developers are increasingly turning to satellite towns with quick commutes, hunting out cheaper land to deliver affordable homes in a healthier sales market with a more favourable planning policy.
