Skadden signs for three floors at 22 Bishopsgate
US Law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom has taken 65,000 sq ft at 22 Bishopsgate, EC2, meaning the City of London’s tallest office tower is now 60% let.
AXA IM Alts, which owns the building, said it had signed the Wall Street giant on a 15-year lease across the 38th to 40th floors, confirming EG’s report from earlier this year.
Skadden will move its 250-strong London team across from its Canary Wharf offices at 40 Bank Street, E14, late next year.

Skadden will move its 250-strong London team across from its Canary Wharf offices at 40 Bank Street, E14, late next year.
The firm is the 15th occupier to sign up at 22 Bishopsgate, and will join US law firms Cooley and Covington & Burling in the 62-storey skyscraper.
Covington & Burling signed for 86,000 sq ft across floors 51 to 54 in April last year, while Cooley occupies around 75,000 sq ft on floors 22 to 24. Other tenants include Apple and UK insurance giants Hiscox and Beazley.
Skadden’s lease is the third to be agreed since the building reached practical completion in December 2020 and follows the announcement earlier this month that insurance company Fidelis will be taking the 25,000 sq ft 42nd floor.
Phillip Shalless, senior asset manager at AXA IM Alts, said: “Since restrictions began to ease in March, we have seen a material uplift in occupier enquiries as businesses reflect on the lockdown experience and seek adaptable space with best-in-class amenity and smart technology.
“This letting to such a prestigious global law firm as Skadden is both a further endorsement of the appeal of 22 Bishopsgate, and highlights the crucial role that the centre of London continues to play in creating the right space for talent and business to thrive.”
In total, 22 Bishopsgate provides 1.2m sq ft of offices, along with more than 100,000 sq ft of amenity space. This includes a 20,000 sq ft food hub called The Market across the second floor, innovation hub The Exchange, a members’ club and a gym with London’s first sky-wall climbing window at 125m above the ground.
The deal also brings it to 60% let, with 770,000 sq ft of space now taken. Eight occupiers have already completed their office fit-outs and are now beginning to welcome staff to their new homes as restrictions continue to lift, while a further six companies across 10 floors are preparing space for occupancy as the year progresses.
