Sciontec adds lab to Liverpool’s Hemisphere scheme
Sciontec has reworked its plans for the Hemisphere development in Paddington Village, Liverpool.
The initial planning consent for the 172,000 sq ft building was granted back in 2022 with the development expected to provide 115,000 sq ft of office space, 8,000 sq ft of co-working space, a café and a wellness studio.
The scheme also featured an external terrace, parking space for eight cars and 166 cycles, an e-bike charging area and showers.

The updated proposals include the provision of 50,000 sq ft of data, bio and innovation labs alongside a multi-purpose events space and networking lounge.
The latest plans for Hemisphere also include Sciontec’s flexible, all inclusive, workspace product, Sciontec AI.
The move comes amid high demand for chemistry and life sciences facilities within Liverpool’s innovation district, with the existing commercial labs at Liverpool Science Park operating at full capacity.
Sciontec chief executive Colin Sinclair said: “By providing much needed grow-on space for existing lab customers, as well as bringing new labs to market, we will ensure that Liverpool City Region remains an attractive destination for business growth.”
The building has been designed by AHR Architects. CBRE and Knight Frank have been retained as agents.
Sciontec is jointly owned by Liverpool John Moores University, the University of Liverpool, Liverpool City Council, and Bruntwood SciTech.
