Scarborough unveils next phase of £1bn Middlewood Locks
Scarborough Group International has filed plans for the next two phases of the £1bn Middlewood Locks project in Salford.
The developer is proposing 659 flats and 18,000 sq ft of commercial space in two blocks of 28 and 32 storeys. In a second reserved matters application, it will bring forward a further 250 flats in an L-shaped building of 15 storeys.
The two plots represent the final remaining 10 acres at the site, after five years of development. These last parcels will be linked by a new landscaped public square.

Scarborough has lodged a new outline consent with revisions to the layout, but retaining the same quantum of development space. In all, Middlewood Locks will provide 2,215 homes and 900,000 sq ft of commercial space, including offices, a hotel, retail and restaurants.
The site is being developed by a joint venture between Scarborough Group International, Metro Holdings Limited – a Singapore-listed property development and investment group, and Hualing Group – based in Urumqui, Xinjiang, in China.
Some 1,117 flats have already been sold in phases one and two of the regeneration. The investors also recently launched sales at the Railings, comprising 189 flats and townhouses.
