Proposals seek to deliver a 190,000 sq ft larger, modernised Sainsbury’s store, with an Argos, more non-food items and expansion of the online delivery service.
The partners have submitted details planned for the first 430 homes in up to 25-storey towers, with a further 731 homes at outline stage. The homes include 35% affordable housing by habitable room, split into London Affordable Rent (71%) and intermediate (29%) tenures.
The plans come just weeks after Sainsbury’s and jv partner Berkeley Homes were granted planning consent for 1,309 flats at The Hyde in Hendon, NW9.
The supermarket giant is redeveloping a number of sites around the capital, using the large store area of a supermarket to unlock residential values, while keeping a lucrative inner-London store footprint.
It has also teamed up with Barratt in Nine Elms, SW8, for a 645-home scheme, with further larger schemes in Ilford and Whitechapel.
