The certification demonstrates outstanding environmental, social and governance commitments. Companies must meet rigorous requirements and provide evidence of responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, pay, diversity and corporate transparency. By completing the B Impact Assessment, Ryden has legally embedded a commitment to purpose as well as profit.
Ryden launched its first ESG strategy last year, setting out ambitious targets including a pathway to achieve net zero emissions by 2035. The firm has strengthened its environmental policies and improved sustainable procurement practices and community volunteering initiatives.
Alan Gilkison, managing partner, said: “We are incredibly proud to achieve B Corp certification, which reflects our environmental and social values. Being a B Corp means using business as a force for good and recognising the importance of people and planet as well as profit. We have worked hard on documenting and improving what we do and measuring the impact it has.
“The property industry will play a major role in driving decarbonisation and we want to work collaboratively with property owners and occupiers to create a more sustainable built environment. Our teams will continue to build on this achievement, reducing emissions and making a positive impact in our local communities.”
There are now more than 3,000 businesses in the UK that have certified as B Corps. Companies are required to recertify every three years to ensure they continue to uphold the standards. Ryden is also a UK Green Building Council member and has signed the BPF Net Zero Pledge.
