The sun may be going down on conservatories, following changes to building regulations.
The new rules, due to come into force in June, will state that conservatories may only be included in new builds if thermal analysis can prove they are not detrimental to energy efficiency.
The National Federation of Builders said the rules could deter smaller builders and those trying to build cheaper homes. But sunrooms or orangeries could become the next hot thing.
