Revised plans submitted for Southampton hotel
London-based developer Marina Developments has submitted a revised planning application for its £50m Millennium Hotel at Ocean Village Marina in Southampton. Marina first gained consent for an HKR Architects-designed 225-bed hotel on the city’s waterfront in 2006. The consent included a restaurant, health spa and a new marina control centre. Marina Developments has redrawn the plans to include more space for conference facilities and provide better links between the hotel and the rest of the development. Savills advised Marina Developments. David Curtis-Brignell, of Millennium Hotels, said: “The site will become a key business and leisure destination and the link from the ballroom to the events area will assist to attract major events into Southampton.” Subject to receiving planning, construction is set to begin this year with opening planning for 2010. helen.roxburgh@egi.co.uk
