Retail and office landlords are making greater use of incentives such as rent-free periods to try to attract tenants as the Brexit impasse hits demand for shops, offices and warehouses.
In a survey by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, more than half of respondents reported a decline in investment inquiries for retail properties in the first quarter of the year, with demand nearing a ten-year low.
Inquiries for office buildings have fallen modestly to their lowest level since the Brexit vote in 2016.
