IWG’s Regus has launched a new flexible working centre in Ipswich as part of a wider roll-out of its franchise programme.
Developed in partnership with Kash Group Office, the franchised centre will offer 32,000 sq ft of flexible office space.
Opening in April this year, the new centre will be located in Franciscan House, in the newly regenerated Waterfront area.
It is Regus’s newest addition to its UK franchise portfolio, following the opening of the business’s first two franchised centres at the end of last year in Huntingdon and Southgate.
The move comes after IWG chief executive Mark Dixon told EG late last year that the firm was poised to accelerate its franchising model. He said: “We are going to be doing a lot more franchising, particularly in the UK. It’s our most active market.
“The reason for franchising is to accelerate growth. We expect to do more than 2,000 sites in the UK. You can see lots of coffee shop chains like that all over the country. We are well under way with that in the UK. We’ve been growing at 12-15% a year but we should be able to grow at double that through franchising.”
Elsewhere, on a country basis, IWG has offloaded its Taiwanese and Japanese operations to franchise partner TKP Corporation. In both cases, TKP has committed to a development plan to add to IWG’s country networks, and IWG will provide ongoing services and support to TKP in return for a fee linked to revenues.
