EG etc: Property teams get into their stride for Steptober
Steptober has well and truly kicked off, with more than 35m steps already taken.
The leaderboard has been changing daily but one team remains at the top consistently – CJG from Leach Rhodes Walker. The team has not been pushed from the top spot once, with each team member taking more than 20,000 steps every day.
But the rest of the top five are right behind. Clearbell Capital Team 6 has been hot on their heels all week. The rest of the top 10 represents a good mix of companies: M7, Shaftesbury, the other Leach Rhodes Walker Team and Pinsent Masons.

There have been some great efforts from across the industry, from Colliers climbing the Gherkin, Bowman and Kirkland scaling Ben Lomand and every member of the Clearbell Capital team signing up.
The challenge has already raised more than £55,000 – enough to fund at least three bed spaces for young people who have experienced homelessness.
An amazing effort from the team of chief executives who have signed up – David Atkins of Hammerson, Chris Grigg of British Land, Rob Noel of Landsec and David Sleath of SEGRO – has already raised nearly £25,000 for LandAid.
The LandAid team has upped the ante by encouraging the British Property Federation’s team (with whom they share an office) to walk the equivalent distance of the office to St Albans and back – 84,000 steps in 48 hours. The losing team will donate £20 each to LandAid.
Landsec has made a £5,000 donation – and has five teams stepping up for LandAid.
Clearbell Capital’s eight teams range from second to 44th position, and three of M7’s five teams are battling it out in the top 20.

Paragon’s glorious Mudathon nets £14,000
This year’s Paragon Mudathon has raised £14,000 for LandAid and Macmillan Cancer Support. Hosted at Henfold Lakes in Dorking, Surrey, the UK’s toughest obstacle course, the 5k mud challenge saw 331 property professionals run, climb and crawl through more than 100 sludge and water obstacles.
Paragon senior building surveyor Leigh Rowley completed the course in the fastest time of 52 minutes. Georgie Anstey from Capstone Property Recruitment was the fastest woman at one hour 28 minutes. The winning team was NatWest.
The event sponsors included Legal & General Investment Management and PGIM Real Estate.
EG was the event’s media partner.
TrustedLand raises £6,800
The inaugural Developers Dinner has raised £6,800 for charity. Organised by TrustedLand and sponsored by Blue Castle Partners, Gunn Associates and Flashbulb, the event follows the success of the Developers Breakfast series.
Speakers on the night included Richard Wombwell of Blue Castle Partners, Paul Morrish of LandAid, Ed Williams of Blue Castle Partners, Justin Carr of the Greater London Authority, and Dominic Grace of Savills. All proceeds raised through the charity auction were donated to LandAid.
Peak performance from Shoppertainment
Shoppertainment staff and some of its clients have completed a charity hike of Welsh mountain Cadair Idris in Snowdonia for Parkinson’s UK and Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice.
The team finished the trek in just over six hours, raising £2,000 in donations. Shoppertainment matched this figure pound for pound to bring the total to £4,000.
Arlington runs for guide dogs
A charity run at Arlington Business Park has raised £555 for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Employees and friends took part in the 5k fun run around the grounds of the business park to support the charity helping individuals with sight loss to get about more independently.
