The main exhibition space would be a 40m by 60m black box structure which would be home to the immersive experience featuring projected imagery in multiple zones, over two levels. There will also be a front of house, shop, toilets, staff office space and two adjoining classrooms with a capacity of 80 people for school groups or functions.
Plans estimate maximum occupancy of 650 visitors in the structure.
In June 2021, planning permission was granted for the use of the site for the London Wonderground Festival. Further planning was granted on the site, between May and July 2022, for the temporary erection of a studio and theatre with two outdoor bars, in conjunction with the “Underbelly Earls Court” event 2022.
If approved, the site will be open to the public from March 2023 to April 2025.
Proposals will be heard and voted on by Hammersmith and Fulham’s planning committee on 11 October.
