Secretary of state Michael Gove is planning on making owners of Airbnb and other holiday rentals seek planning permission before renting out their properties.
The proposals are part of plans to try to curb the number of short-term holiday lets in some of the UK’s tourist hotspots.
The boom in rentals is said to be shutting locals out of the housing market and damaging trade for more traditional hotels and B&Bs.
