Planners back retrofit of Regent Quarter offices into life sciences hub
Endurance Land has been given the green light to transform Regent Quarter, N1, into a life sciences hub.
Last year the local council granted Endurance Land approval to redevelop 141,633 sq ft of office space and 11,724 sq ft of retail and leisure space at Regent Quarter. The latest decision gives Endurance Land permission to retrofit the buildings into labs from solely commercial office space.
The repositioned buildings are proposed to have high environmental credentials, including BREEAM Excellent certification, low embodied carbon and an all-electric services solution.

Endurance Land will work alongside Nan Fung Life Science Real Estate as long-term partners to own and operate the asset.
The partners plan to begin work on the scheme immediately, with delivery of fitted labs in summer of 2025.
Regent Quarter, located in the heart of King’s Cross, comprises 260,000 sq ft of mixed-use real estate across 12 office buildings and 20 retail and leisure facilities.
Jonathan Fletcher, chief executive at Endurance Land, said: “Receiving permission to change class use to include life science labs is also an exciting next step in revitalising Regent Quarter. Our vision has always been to reactivate the site while celebrating and improving the unique heritage of the asset and creating amenity improvements for visitors, workers, and residents.
“Once works are completed, we are confident that Regent Quarter will greatly benefit both the local Islington and wider London communities by attracting world class knowledge tenants and positively contributing to the knowledge economy.”
