Peel to move into housebuilding
John Whittaker’s Peel Land and Property will launch a housebuilding division later this year, it has announced.
The new brand will focus on the North West and will be led by Harworth Group’s Phil Wilson as chief executive.
Wilson has 20 years of experience in housebuilding. He worked at the Yorkshire-based property regen company for seven years. During this time he oversaw schemes including the 4,000-home Waverley development in South Yorkshire, and the largest industrial and logistic scheme in the North West, Logistics North in Bolton.

Peel L&P has a pipeline of more than 34,000 plots for housebuilding spread over 5,063 acres, with potential for an extra 10,000 units subject to planning permission.
Wilson is currently recruiting a new team and assessing new potential development sites. He is joined by Jonathan England as development director. England has moved from Peel Energy, where he has worked for the past 10 years.
Wilson said: ““We have great success in achieving planning consent on our land and while we sell some of our consented land onto other housebuilders, in future it will give us the option to create developments in line with our vision. Despite our in-house status, it’s essential we build a competitive and compelling offer as Peel L&P compared to other external housebuilders.”
