Partner sought for £500m London Knowledge Quarter project
Camden Council has launched a search for a development partner to support the delivery of a mixed-use scheme in the borough, comprising both affordable housing and life sciences facilities.
Some 350 new homes are prosed for two council-owned sites – at 120-136 Camley Street and 3-30 Cedar Way, N1 – of which 170 will be affordable, alongside additional public open spaces and improved pedestrian and cycling routes.
The plans also include the delivery of more than 200,000 sq ft of commercial space, creating 1,000 jobs for the life sciences, tech and digital industries.

In addition, some light industrial space is expected to be developed on site that could offer existing tenants the opportunity to return to Camley Street.
The sites, spanning 3.56 acres, are located close to King’s Cross St Pancras and Euston, and form a part of the council’s £2.3bn community investment programme to deliver 4,850 new homes.
Danny Beales, council cabinet member for investing in communities, culture and an inclusive economy, said: “We want to see Camley Street become a place where our residents can access new employment opportunities in the life sciences sector, where they can live in brand new affordable and high-quality homes, and where children have access to new green spaces.”
Proposals for the redevelopment of the sites have been prepared in conjunction with JLL. The design and masterplan for the two sites has been led by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios with support from Studio Woodroffe Papa and Architecture 00.
