Nuveen plans central platform to run €7bn European office empire

Property investor Nuveen is to launch a central operating system from which to run its office buildings in Europe. The platform, run by BNP Paribas, will manage the daily operations of Nuveen’s office buildings across the continent, including food and drink facilities, fitness and wellbeing initiatives and technology to make workplaces more sustainable. Its €7bn (£6bn) European office portfolio includes the so-called smart building Cube Berlin, a 188,000 sq ft block in the German capital, and Edge Olympic, a 120,000 sq ft redevelopment in Amsterdam’s business quarter.. The rollout comes as part of a pivot towards a more customer-focused approach from the landlord, which hopes it will be able to “get even closer to tenants” as a result. Head of European offices Nick Deacon said: “Occupier expectations have increased significantly over the past five or so years, with technology, sustainability and wellbeing now at the heart of their needs, and these trends have only been accelerated as a consequence of the pandemic. “The office sector needs to reinvent itself to stay relevant.
