The transition to net zero is doing more to level up Britain by bringing high-paying jobs to poorer regions, a report has found.
The report, commissioned by the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit, an independent advisory body, and based on analysis by CBI Economics and the Data City, analysed jobs in 16 sectors driving the transition to net zero.
These jobs, in sectors including renewables, low-carbon heating and energy efficiency, pay an average of £42,600 a year, more than the national average of £33,400.
Industries focused on net zero are on the rise throughout the country, with venture capital investment in them growing at 30% a year between 2016 and 2021.
