Marks & Spencer is to shut a distribution centre near Warrington in Cheshire, placing 450 jobs at risk, as it seeks to revamp the way in which its products reach stores.
The retailer will close the Hardwick Grange warehouse and has appointed DHL, the logistics group, to run a new site at Welham Green in Hertfordshire.
M&S has been struggling for several years to improve sales in its clothing and homewares divisions. Recently food sales have come under pressure.
