Mount Anvil and Catalyst approved for 1,000 homes in Ealing

London developer Mount Anvil and housing association Catalyst have been given the green light to build 990 homes at the Friary Park Estate in Acton, W3. Ealing Council has approved plans for the flats in towers of up to 24 storeys with 10,000 sq ft of commercial space and 5,000 sq ft of community space. The hybrid planning application includes detailed plans for 500 flats and outline plans for a further 490 flats on the six-acre site. They will replace the 230 predominantly social rent homes, which were built in the 1980s. Many of these are over-occupied, fall well below space standards and have poor heating. The duo will deliver 50% affordable housing at the site, with 237 new social rent homes and 178 shared-ownership homes. Catalyst has owned and managed the homes since 1988. The housing association worked up several masterplans between 2013 and 2017, also exploring refurbishment of the homes.
