The Crown Estate has taken over the JLL property management teams acting on its London portfolio, to create its own in-house property management division.
Earlier this week, the firm appointed former JLL director William Maugham as head of property management for its St James’s portfolio, SW1.
Maugham is set to be joined by more JLL colleagues at the estate, including the finance team that supports its London portfolio.
The City of London Corporation has deferred its decision on whether to approve Perennial Group and Stanhope’s proposals to develop 1 Undershaft, EC3, slated to be one of London’s tallest towers. The 74-storey office development was previously recommended for approval by planning officers. At 309.6m, it would match the height of the Shard.
The debate, held by the planning committee yesterday, largely focused on the loss of public space in the southern square. Councillors decided that minor adjustments needed to be made to the proposals in relation to street-level public realm provisions.
The decision came after Lloyd’s of London chairman Bruce Carnegie-Brown lodged a last-minute objection to the scheme.
In Lincolnshire, discount grocer Lidl has won a High Court case quashing planning permission granted to rival Aldi.
Lidl disputed East Lindsey District Council’s decision to grant Aldi planning consent for a new store on the outskirts of Horncastle. Lidl’s lawyer argued that the council should have considered a proposal from its client at the same time.
In a ruling handed down at the planning court in Leeds, Judge Dan Kolinsky said adopting a “first past the post” approach was not appropriate in that situation. His decision means that neither supermarket has permission to build a store and must seek planning approval again.
