Millennium & Copthorne faces revolt over director’s ‘overboarding’

Millennium & Copthorne Hotels faces a rebellion against the reappointment of one of its top directors over concerns he has too many other jobs.

Kwek Leng Peck, cousin of M&C’s Singaporean majority owner Kwek Leng Beng, holds five other directorships, including chairman of Malaysian cement manufacturer Tasek and executive chairman of engineering firm Hong Leong Asia.

Glass Lewis, the influential shareholder advisory firm, has recommended a vote against his reappointment as a non-executive director, warning that the other roles could mean he is unable to commit enough time to M&C.
