Developer Stately Homes is set to build a £29m manor house complete with a virtual replica in the metaverse, in a suspected world first.
Hampton Hall will boast a bowling alley, spa, home cinema, gym, swimming pool and bullet-proof windows throughout on a 1.3-acre plot in the gated Grown Estate in Oxshott, Surrey. The purchaser will also be offered first refusal on a non-fungible token containing the copyrighted blueprint and virtual version of the property.
Sean Barratt, managing director of Fine & Country estate agents in Richmond, which is selling the house and token, said: “NFTs are a real trend at the moment. We recently sold a £5m house in Surrey, a period property that had been extensively renovated and extended. The developer asked the buyer whether they would be interested in buying an NFT of the house for 2% of the purchase price of the physical asset. The developer wanted to test the waters. The buyer said yes very quickly.”
