Estate agency group LSL Property Services has named the UK chief financial officer of Barclays Bank as a non-executive director.
James Mack will chair the company’s audit and risk committee and sit on the nominations and remuneration committees.
Mack has been CFO and an executive director at Barclays Bank UK since February 2020, before which he spent almost seven years as the finance chief at Aldermore.
He joins a non-executive line-up at LSL that also includes RELX Group’s Gaby Appleton, Pivotal Growth chief executive Simon Embley, Darrell Evans of the Co-operative Bank and Whitbread Group’s Bill Shannon, the board chairman.
LSL has been building out the financial services offerings it provides to estate agents, and Shannon said Mack’s appointment “adds significantly to the continuing development of the group’s strategy”.
In its most recent financial results, for the half year to 30 June, the company said profit from its financial services division had grown by more than two-thirds year-on-year. Chief executiive David Stewart said at the time: “The investments we are making in technology and financial services will deliver tangible benefits from 2022 and we are confident they will generate substantial value for shareholders in the medium term.”
