LondonMetric lands Amazon prelet

LondonMetric Property has agreed a 15-year prelet on a warehouse site near Birmingham, understood to be with Amazon.

The company said this morning that the deal at Tyseley, near Birmingham – on which it did not disclose the tenant – was worth £1.6m in annual rent.

The 120,000 sq ft last-mile logistics warehouse will bring the development at the site to more than 250,000 sq ft, with construction expected to begin “imminently”.

Planning consent has already been received on the warehouse, which will be designed to allow the occupier to adopt a full electric vehicle delivery fleet after an expected summer 2021 completion.

The site was acquired by the company as part of LondonMetric’s Mucklow acquisition.

Andrew Jones, chief executive of LondonMetric, said: “This is a fantastic prelet and we look forward to creating a state-of-the-art urban logistics facility.

“The location and flexibility of our site will help ensure that this becomes one of the most efficient fulfilment facilities within the Birmingham area.”
