Lloyds to shut 49 branches

Lloyds Banking Group is closing 49 branches and launching a mobile banking service to replace branches on the high street.

The group plans to put eight mobile branches on the road between March and April next year.

The move is part of chief executive António Horta-Osório’s three-year cost-cutting programme, which result in the closure of 400 branches by the end of 2017.
