LLDC gives Notting Hill Genesis green light for Hackney Wick scheme
Notting Hill Genesis has secured permission for a 190-home development across four buildings near Hackney Wick station, E9, from the London Legacy Development Corporation’s planning committee.
The housing association submitted detailed plans for the development, which is owned by the LLDC, in January.
The scheme also includes more than 43,000 sq ft of commercial space, which will be occupied by creative and small business occupiers. A quarter of that space will be low-cost.

The scheme also includes more than 43,000 sq ft of commercial space, which will be occupied by creative and small business occupiers. A quarter of that space will be low-cost.
Half of the homes in the development will be affordable, providing a mix of London Affordable Rent, shared ownership and private sale housing. Homes will be 5% larger than national size standards.
A further 43,000 sq ft of public space will also be created, alongside residential play areas, roof terraces and podium amenities.
The plans also focus on sustainability, with no fossil fuels needed to power either the homes or commercial space.
Works are due to begin later this year, with the buildings and public realm expected to complete in 2025.
John Hughes, group director of development for Notting Hill Genesis, said the development will benefit from “fantastic transport links to the rest of London and beyond”.
Rosanna Lawes, executive director of development at LLDC, said: “This site, adjacent to Hackney Wick station will deliver new homes, 50% affordable, the retention of affordable workspace, employment space and high-quality public realm.
“This is going to be a high-quality, well-designed, mixed-use development that will fit with its surroundings and bring real benefits for local people and businesses.”
LLDC appointed Notting Hill Genesis as development partner in March last year, while the design team is led by Hawkins\Brown, with Delvendahl Martin and Studio Weave.
