Retail sales grew for the first time in five months in April as consumers hit the high street over the Easter weekend, according to a survey by the Confederation of British Industry.
The CBI’s retail sales balance rose to a net balance of +13 in April, up from -18 in March and the first positive reading since November.
Of the survey’s 110 respondents, 49% said that volumes were up and 36% said they were down, giving the +13 reading.
