LandAid’s biggest ever SleepOut raises over £465,000

LandAid’s biggest ever SleepOut in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds and Cambridge has raised over £465,000. More than 650 property professionals braved the cold overnight on 10 March to fundraise for young homeless people, bedding down at Printworks in London, Q Park in Birmingham, Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol, Cambridge University Rugby Club, Victoria Gate Car Park in Leeds and Depot Mayfield in Manchester, while a further 150 took part virtually by sleeping outside at home. The funds raised will be donated to local charities and projects serving young homeless people, such as St Basil’s in Birmingham, East Street Mews in Bristol, YMCA Trinity Group in Cambridge, WomenCentre in Leeds and Depaul Nightstop in Manchester. The LandAid 2022 SleepOut was supported by headline sponsors Knight Frank and regional supporters TFT, Prologis, Henry Boot, Morgan Sindall and Mansford. Paul Morrish, LandAid’s chief executive, said: “A big thank you to everyone who braved the freezing cold and slept out during the biggest LandAid SleepOut ever. An incredible amount has been raised by professionals across the property industry. Every penny raised will go towards LandAid’s mission to end youth homelessness. “The support we have received at every venue across the country has been truly inspiring. While the experience gives everyone a very good idea of how tough sleeping outside is, one night outside does not replicate the true reality of rough sleeping that faces thousands of young people all over the country. With the efforts of hundreds across the property industry, we have raised enough funds to be able to make a real difference to those who are young and homeless, by providing safe and secure accommodation.” Alistair Elliott, group chairman at Knight Frank, said: “Knight Frank is delighted to have had the opportunity to sponsor the LandAid SleepOut, which we believe to be the stand-out initiative to raise awareness for youth homelessness in the UK. “The SleepOuts in Cambridge, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and London were all special, and we are proud to have brought the property industry together for such an urgent cause.
