South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and F3 are working up plans to redevelop the six-acre site between Clapham and Brixton.
The partners have lodged a request for an EIA scoping opinion with Lambeth Council.
It proposes a range of sizes and tenures and flexible commercial and community uses along the Landor Road frontage, with public realm and landscaping.
Ground-floor commercial uses are expected to include retail, a nursery and GP surgery, alongside other community uses.
The partners will consult on plans to move the hospital services off the site and, if approved, they will lodge a full planning application.
