LabTech unveils Camden Market reopening strategy
Teddy Sagi’s LabTech has set out its plans for reopening Camden Market on 1 June, in line with the government’s aims to ease lockdown measures.
The landlord also plans to extend a rent-free period granted to all traders three months ago.
Measures being introduced by LabTech include a one-way system; floor markers for social distancing; queuing spots outside shops and directional signage; maps outlining “the correct flow of traffic”; and hand sanitiser stations.

LabTech expects up to 80% of food and beverage traders will be participating when it reopens its estate. Its retail traders will begin to resume trading on 15 June.
Traders will be expected to align with government recommendations, including limiting the number of customers entering at any one time, maintaining a strict cleaning regime, and accepting card payments where possible.
Yaron Shahar, chief executive of LabTech, said: “We have three priorities as we prepare to reopen: doing so safely and responsibly for visitors, traders and the wider community; supporting traders as comprehensively as possible as they restart their businesses; and learning from this first phase as we plan to open Buck Street and other areas of the estate.
“Our comprehensive range of measures has been devised to ensure we can achieve these objectives and we will continue to support our local businesses through these unprecedented times as we move out of lockdown.”
LabTech said Buck Street Market is likely to follow this reopening approach in the coming weeks, although timings have not been finalised.
