Knight Dragon, L&Q and GLA approved for 17,500-home Greenwich Peninsula

Knight Dragon, L&Q and the Greater London Authority have received planning consent for a revised 17,487-home masterplan for Greenwich Peninsula, SE10. Greenwich Council has approved a hybrid application including 5,813 homes in outline plans, boosting the overall masterplan with an additional 1,757 homes with new tenures including co-living. The outline plans allow for 5.7m sq ft of residential development, which could include up to 5,813 homes and up to 500 student or co-living rooms. The scheme includes a 350-bedroom hotel, a theatre, 740,000 sq ft of commercial space and 210,000 sq ft of retail and F&B, with additional sports, health and education facilities. Detailed plans will also see development of 476 flats, with 56% affordable housing to be delivered by L&Q with grant funding. The plans will now be referred to the mayor of London. Last year, Sadiq Khan raised concerns about the lack of information on the student and co-living proposals. Khan has yet to approve any co-living development at stage two referral. The Collective’s Stratford High Street plans were referred to the mayor in June 2017 and, after more than two years of waiting, the developer switched to a hotels use class. Knight Dragon gained consent for the original £8.4bn masterplan for Greenwich Peninsula in 2015. The Hong Kong developer bought the site from Quintain in 2013 for £186m.
